Grill’d Relish Guide (2026): Free Burgers, Rewards & How It Works

How many times have you paid full price at Grill’d while the person next to you scanned a little barcode and walked away with free food? What is this Grill’d Relish thing everyone at the counter seems to know about? How do the free burgers actually work, and are you quietly losing money on every visit by not being a member?

Relish is Grill’d’s free loyalty program. Join for free with an email and mobile number, scan your member barcode before you pay, and your visits unlock free food: free snack chips on visit 2, a free drink on visit 5, and a free burger, salad or Super Sliders on visit 8.

What Is Grill’d Relish?

Relish is the loyalty program Grill’d has run since 2019, and it costs nothing to join. There are no points to collect and no tiers to climb. Instead, the program simply counts your visits, and certain visits pay you back in free food.

It matters more than it used to. Almost every Grill’d deal, voucher and coupon now runs through Relish, so members see offers that walk-in customers never get. The full list of current offers sits on our Grill’d deals page, and this guide explains the program underneath them.

Think of it as a simple swap. Grill’d gets a regular customer. You get free chips, free drinks and free burgers on a fixed schedule.

How to Join Relish (Free)

Joining takes a couple of minutes, and there are two ways in:

  • On the Grill’d website — sign up with a valid email address and mobile number.
  • In the Grill’d app — the same sign-up, and the app keeps your member barcode handy for every order.

Whichever way you join, you create an account, verify it, and get your own member number with a barcode. That barcode is your key. Scan it at the counter, or stay signed in when you order online, and the visit lands on your account.

Three things worth knowing before you start:

  • One account per person. Accounts are not shared.
  • Your account works at every Grill’d restaurant in Australia, plus the Grill’d website and app.
  • There is no joining fee and no ongoing cost. Free means free.

The Relish Rewards Ladder: What You Actually Get

This is the part everyone joins for. Every visit moves you one step up the ladder, and three of the steps pay out.

Visit

Reward

2nd visit

Free snack chips with a burger or salad

5th visit

Free standard drink (non-alcoholic up to 600ml, or alcoholic up to 500ml, cocktails excluded)

8th visit

Free standard burger, salad or Super Sliders — or donate it through 8 & Donate

Birthday month

Free snack chips every day of the month with a burger or salad

A few details hide inside that table:

  • The 2nd-visit chips need a burger or salad in the same order. They are not a walk-in freebie on their own.
  • The free drink on visit 5 has size limits: up to 600ml for non-alcoholic drinks, up to 500ml for alcoholic ones, and cocktails are excluded.
  • The birthday perk is generous. For your whole birthday month, every day you buy a burger or salad, a free serve of snack chips comes with it.

How Visits and Badges Actually Work

Here is where most people lose free food without realising it. A “visit” is not just walking into the restaurant. Grill’d counts a visit only when all of this is true:

  • You make one transaction that includes a full-priced burger, salad or Super Sliders combo.
  • Your membership is scanned before payment, or you are signed in when you order on the Grill’d website or app.
  • The order is not one of the excluded packs. The Dynamic Duo and Mini Me packs do not count.
  • The transaction is not a free one. A visit paid for with a reward does not earn the next badge.

And the big one: third-party delivery apps do not count. Orders through Uber Eats, DoorDash or Menulog earn nothing, no matter how often you order. Checking out as a guest on Grill’d’s own website earns nothing either, because there is no account attached to the order.

Each qualifying visit earns a badge on your account, and the badges are what trigger the rewards in the ladder above. Forget to scan, and the visit simply never happened as far as the program is concerned.

8 & Donate: Your Free Burger Can Feed Someone Else

When you reach your 8th visit, you have a choice. Take the free burger, salad or Super Sliders for yourself, or choose 8 & Donate instead.

Pick Donate, and Grill’d gives the cost of that meal to Vinnies, who use it to feed someone in need. Members are automatically enrolled in 8 & Donate, so the option is sitting there waiting on every 8th visit.

It is clearly popular. So far, Relish members have donated more than 254,000 meals this way. Your free burger costs you nothing either way, which makes the donate option an easy yes for a lot of members.

The Fine Print, in Plain Words

Grill’d’s own terms spell out a few rules that catch people out. Here they are without the legal language:

  • The 8th-visit free burger coupon is dine-in only, and it is valid for 30 days. Miss the window and it is gone.
  • The 2nd and 5th visit rewards also give you 30 days to redeem them. These are not rewards you can bank forever.
  • The free burger has exclusions. It covers a standard burger, but not Specialty Wagyu, not Build-Your-Own, and not the Dynamic Duo or Mini Me packs.
  • Rewards need their trigger food. The free chips on visit 2 and in your birthday month only come with a burger or salad purchase.

None of this is hidden, but it sits in the terms and conditions most people never open. Grill’d publishes the full rules on its official Relish benefits page if you want the legal version.

Deals That Run Through Relish

The rewards ladder is only half the story. Relish is also where Grill’d drops its limited-time coupons, and the best-known one is built for Formula 1 fans.

The Oscar Piastri Burger: $12.81 on Race Sundays

On Formula 1 race Sundays, Relish members get a coupon for the Oscar Piastri burger at $12.81. The coupon lands in your account on the day and must be used that same Sunday. The next one is Sunday 8 November 2026, the Brazil Grand Prix weekend, and the offer runs through the remaining race Sundays to 6 December 2026.

No membership, no coupon. That single rule is why the program is worth joining even if you only visit Grill’d now and then.

Two Dead Deals to Stop Chasing

Search results still talk about these, so let us save you a wasted trip:

  • Burger Pass ($44 for 4 burgers) — the purchase period ended on 3 August 2026. You cannot buy it anymore.
  • Mad Bunday — the free-burger footy promotion ended with the 2026 AFL and NRL regular seasons.

If a site still lists either one as a current offer, that page is out of date.

Is Relish Worth It? The Simple Maths

Run the numbers and the answer gets easy.

  • You pay nothing to join and nothing to stay a member.
  • Your second visit already pays out with free snack chips. That is the break-even point, and it arrives almost immediately.
  • Keep going, and every 8 visits turn into roughly 8 paid burgers in exchange for 1 free standard burger, plus a free drink along the way on visit 5.
  • Add the birthday-month chips and the members-only coupons like the $12.81 Oscar Piastri burger, and the value keeps stacking quietly in the background.

The only way Relish is not worth it is if you never scan. The program rewards one small habit: barcode out before you pay.

Grill’d Relish FAQs

Yes. Joining is free; there is no membership fee, and your account stays free. You sign up with an email address and mobile number on the Grill’d website or in the app.

No. The app is handy because your barcode is always on your phone, but you can join and manage your account on the Grill’d website instead. What matters is that your membership is scanned before payment, or that you are signed in when you order.

Only orders placed through Grill’d itself while you are signed in. Orders through Uber Eats, DoorDash and Menulog do not count, and neither does a guest checkout on the Grill’d website.

That visit does not get counted. Badges are added when your barcode is scanned before payment, so an unscanned visit leaves no record on your account. Build the habit of scanning first, paying second.

No. Relish allows one account per person, and accounts are not transferable or shared. Each family member who wants the rewards needs their own free account.

Yes. Your membership works at every Grill’d restaurant in Australia, and on the Grill’d website and app. The only places it does not work are third-party platforms like delivery apps.

Common Mistakes That Cost You Free Food

Most lost rewards come down to the same few slips:

  • Checking out as a guest online. No account attached means no badge earned.
  • Forgetting to scan before payment. Staff cannot fix the count once the order is paid and closed.
  • Ordering through a delivery app and expecting a visit. Third-party orders never count, however loyal you are.
  • Letting the 30-day window expire. Your 2nd, 5th and 8th visit rewards all have a use-by date. When a reward lands, plan the visit that uses it.
  • Ordering an excluded pack. Dynamic Duo and Mini Me packs are good value, but they do not move you up the ladder.

Join free, scan every time, and use each reward within its 30 days. Do those three things and Relish quietly pays for a few of your Grill’d meals every year.
